Kiradi people were called Malgujar during British rule. The most common surnames in Kirad community is Varma, Dongre, Khojre, Gasone, Narete, Tehre, Badratiye, Rongre etc. The primary occupation of people in the Kirad community is farming. Kirad community is divided into four subgroups: Dhakad, Vidur, Choriya, Karan. Dhakads are mostly found in Amravati district.
